Exterior of the 2009 Toyota Corolla

The exterior of the 2009 Toyota Corolla is one of modern style combined with hints of the successful past. This year's model has a much closer relevance to the ever-popular Toyota Camry. The grille as well as the fascia and headlights for the 2009 Toyota Corolla have all been revised to match the popular Camry look. The exterior look for the 2009 Corolla actually varies more than ever this year with several customization packages and 5 different trims available.

Two of these trims, the S and XRS, look much sporty on the exterior due to different rims, spoilers, and body kits. Other features on the 2009 Toyota Corolla include front and rear body color bumpers, a front air dam, and the option to get metallic paint. The 2009 Toyota Corolla has six colors to choose from, some metallic, others not (all of the paint Toyota is Mica paint). The exterior of the 2009 Toyota Corolla does have options, but for the most part it is still fairly clean (especially compared to other competitors), as Toyota likes to do with their mainstream cars.

Compared to the past it still does have a more modern and sporty look to it, especially the two sports editions. Several critics have noted have the S and XRS has a much more “aggressive” look in the 2009 Toyota Corolla compared to past year’s models. Toyota tweaked several parts of the exterior of the Corolla in this year’s model, but one think which remains the same is the back headlights. They are sort of a tribute to the past and the success the Corolla brand has had. The dimensions of the car are still very similar to past editions.

The 2009 Toyota Corolla has many tweaks to the body shape. The front corners have been given a curved design. This is to achieve more effect maneuverability. Also, the backseat floor hump has been reduced to create a bit more legroom, enabling three adults to sit in the back (which many of the 2009 Toyota Corolla’s competitors can not say.) The exterior tweaks are all fairly minor, but when put together the car does look noticeably different. It can easily be picked apart from the Toyota Corolla of past years and many say this was a necessary and good change. Whether or not that is true, sales in 2009 will tell.

One thing is evident though. It is obvious that with this year’s model Toyota will remain a big player in the market for compact cars. They have tweaked a car with good sales to make it even more appealing to consumers. The sporty look is something in particular which is highly anticipated. Many critics deemed it a necessary step, especially in the wake of Civics becoming known for being easily customized to look sporty. Toyota has done a great job with the 2009 Corolla to try to adhere to customer’s wants, while at the same time providing the quality product which they have delivered for so many years in a row.
