There are 5 trims to the 2009 Toyota Corolla:

The basic corolla starts at $15,250 and comes with the 4 speed automatic transmission. There are a couple of options for add-ons, which may raise the price. The basic edition of the car doesn’t offer all of the add-ons and is really just meant for someone who doesn’t care too much about extras. The basic 2009 Toyota Corolla has an ultra low emission rating (ULEVII) and comes with all of the standard options. It is a front engine, front-wheel drive car with a unitized body. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and Traction Control with an off switch are both optional in this trim of the 2009 Toyota Corolla.

If you are looking for something a step above the basic Corolla, then the LE version might be for you. Available in only 4 speed auto, the 2009 Toyota Corolla LE has options for Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and heated outside mirrors. VSC is a highly recommended upgrade and it isn’t very costly. If you are going with the 2009 Toyota Corolla LE, you should definitely get VSC as well. The base price of the LE trim is $16,650 with a few hundred extra for stability control. The LE is one of the more popular trims due to its price efficiency and additional options.

Next in line is the 2009 Toyota Corolla XLE, which starts at $17,550. It is also a 4 speed auto like the LE. It has more options than the other models including built in satellite radio, bluetooth technology, and a better sound system. You can also get a touch screen DVD navigation system. The remote keyless entry system comes standard with every 2009 Toyota Corolla XLE. The XLE is probably your best option if you want a lot of features, but don’t care much about power or having a sporty car (which is what the last two trims offer.)

There are two sports trims available for the 2009 Toyota Corolla. The cheaper of the two is the Corolla S, which starts at $16,320. It comes in 5 speed manual, although there is also an option for 4 speed auto (base price for that is $17,150.) This car is really for those who like sporty cars. It looks different than the traditional Corolla, due to different rims, a spoiler, and a more sporty body. Almost all of the options available in the 2009 Toyota Corolla XLE are also available for the S trim.

The last trim is the XRS, which comes in both 5 speed manual and 4 speed auto. The manual edition starts at $18,760 and the auto at $19,950. Many would consider the 2009 Toyota Corolla XRS the “cream of the crop” Corolla. Many of the options in other cars such as VSC come standard with this model. It also sports a more powerful engine which is 158 horsepower instead of the 128 hp engine that comes standard with the other trims. It also has a very sporty look like the Corolla S.
